And the last couple of the shoot . . .
You know, I see a lot of people that genuinely love their dog - and vice versa, of course - but Ariel & Travis really do have something special going on. I saw it especially in training . . . often I'll see people embarassed by their dog or frustrated with them (and, quite honestly, vica versa as well ;) ) but these two . . . it's all about the bond. It's not about what they can do for each other, it's not showing off, it's the two of them exploring this whole thing together. Pretty cool stuff. Wish everyone had that come as easily to them as these two do!
I had a blast Ariel & Lynne (and Travis) - thanks so much! I hope there's something in here you like. I plan to place the order for the proofs I want to see early next week. I have read a lot of really good things about mpix.com developing; looks like their 5x7's are $1, which is pretty affordable too. We should have a meeting of the minds about the proofs you want to see as well . . . I'll pay shipping if we order at the same time. I'll also help you research (and place the order for you if you like) on any enlargements or fancy photo albums or senior-picture type stuff you have in mind. You'll have to put it on your credit card, but I'll upload the pics and send you the links to make it easy for you. I would like to see the final results though; I have some family members that I'll be doing this for next year & I'd like to see how everything turns out.
The only thing I won't do is burn the images to a CD . . . developing is a huge pet peeve of mine - bad developing can ruin a picture. Too many times I've handed a CD w/prints over to family members & they develop them up at Walmart / Walgreens and then show the world something I think is just a little awful and tell everyone I did it . . . my vanity can't take that!
Good night, and please let me know!!
p.s.
The finals will have the typical photographer's signature on them!

Taking a break
I think I will take a break from the Ariel photos for a few days. My eyes are starting to cross and either I'm tempted to get all freaky with them or just do the same-old, same-old. Perhaps looking at it with fresh eyes in a few days will make a difference. :) I have about a dozen "potentials" left. Not sure how many will make the final chopping block, but we're just about there!
p.s.
I showed a couple of my coworkers a few of these pics (to get opinions on post-processing) and their first comment was how beautiful Ariel is.

Just one pic done tonight
Natalie had swim class which was a blast for both of us. Although she looks significantly better in her swimsuit than I do. ;) The moon's plenty bright for some frisbee with the dogs, but it's so windy out there that I quickly wimped out on that & came inside to fool with Ariel's pics again. I think many of the pictures are starting to look pretty similar to me, so thought I'd try mixing it up a bit. :)

Monday night processing
Baby's in bed, dogs are fed, toenails are done and the husband is watching TV. Here's what I get to do!
The afternoon outside in bright sun ones all turned out about like this, so they're getting deleted. The tree color is really pretty but the squinty eyes & harsh shadows aren't really cutting it. This one's just going up as an example to show what I mean!
Travis, honestly, you don't have to keep one eye on Ariel. She's not going anywhere. Trust me on this!
Wasn't sure I liked Ariel's expression in this one, but I'll throw it out all the same. :)
And after a glass of wine (just one, I swear!)
This one's a lot like the other one, but a little different . ..

The blue wall
A couple weeks ago I used the baby napping in her carseat as an excuse to drive around town looking for fun places to shoot. I loved this wall - was really hoping to talk Ariel into something kinda funky / urban so I could use it. Talk about a 'click' when it turned out both of us were trying to think of how to break it to the other that we weren't really interested in doing the standard tree-and-nature shots today. Not that there's anything wrong with those shots - I like those shots too! But today was all about a little edge downtown. Well, as close to edgy downtown as we could get in River Falls & Hudson. ;)
I'm a little nervous to show these . . . I hope they like them, but if they don't I understand 100% too. This was a new thing for me & good or bad results, it was a great experience. :)
Here's what I got for the blue wall. I have a feeling Lynne is gonna shoot me when she sees this one - she could pass for 25 here. Eeeek!
She has such a great smile! I know she wasn't exactly loving being in front of the camera, but you wouldn't guess it from the shots I got.
This one has a slight blue cast to it. Not sure why, but if they like it I'll fix that before we get anything developed up.
I added a slight vignetting to this one; I think it works but I can take it off too!
And this is the last of the blue wall series.
